A few weeks ago, Torta Dolce Cake was kind enough to invite me and a few other Jakarta-based bloggers to its HQ in Pluit, Jakarta. The occasion was to showcase its newly invented Croidos*, which I think were so creative; with flavors from popcorn to peanut and chocolate to cheese. Definitely something new!
When I arrived, I realize that Torta Dolce is not actually a bakery shop, nor a restaurant. It does have a team of pastry chefs, but the brand only supplies cakes to bakeries throughout the town and provide delivery services straight to consumers, which I think is such a great idea, since it reduces the cost of property (for the shop).
Even though the Croidos were the superstars, we started off with a few opening acts.
Now the Croidos. Torta Dolce is definitely being innovative on this. I guess since everyone is sort of “doing it,” you kind of have to be creative in order to be different. And honestly, I’ve never really seen other bakeries doing the kind of Croido that Torta Dolce has made. So here they are:
Chocolate, peanuts and caramel.
Popcorn caramel. Personal favorite.
They even taught us how to make them!
In terms of taste, Torta Dolce’s Croidos are more of a donut than a croissant. When you bite into the pastry, you feel more like eating a dense layered donut, which is a good texture for something that has crazy toppings on it like caramel popcorns!
Overall, I had an amazing time at Pluit with Torta Dolce and I cannot wait to see other innovative things the company is going to offer next. Thank you Torta Dolce!
