Random Food Alert

First of all, sorry we haven’t posted in ages. We all just got more than a little busy with real life (a.k.a. education) that’s all.

So my dad, sister and I are in Manila for…well, just for kicks I suppose and we had nothing to do so we just basically went from mall to mall. We eventually ended up in MoA (SM Mall of Asia, to our non-Filipino followers) because my dad wanted to see/take pictures of the sunset from Manila Bay. Then sunset came and the sun was practically covered by clouds so…yeah.

Anyways the point of this post is…there is no point! LOL I just wanna randomly talk about some of the food I ate today (if you wanna run, run now!).

California Berry, Iloilo

I really don’t know why my sister and I love frozen yogurt so much. We would practically scour the entire city to go to any frozen yogurt place we can, which is actually not difficult at all since there are like…three frozen yogurt places in this frozen-yogurt-forsaken town.

Hot on the heels of Yogu is California Berry, which, as you may already know, first opened in Manila, and has thankfully decided to come to Iloilo.

FROZEN YOGURT WITH GRAHAM CRACKER CRUMBS, CAP’N CRUNCH AND APPLES

That’s what I ordered. It all actually came together well: the cereal for the crunch, the fruit for the flavour, and the random cracker crumbs for the randomness (but also for extra flavour).

STRAWBERRY FROZEN YOGURT WITH MANGO, KIWI AND BLUEBERRY

That’s what my sister ordered, and it’s fruit overload! ‘Coz my sister likes it that way. The strawberry yogurt is actually seasonal, meaning that their special seasonal yogurt’s flavour depends on whatever fruit is in season. Really lucky for us that it’s strawberry right now (didn’t know strawberries are in season here) ‘coz we both love strawberry yogurt/ice cream. It was divine.

Anyways, my favourite thing about California Berry is the plethora of yogurt topping choices they offer, that are actually separated by ‘category’: the fruit toppings are separated from the junk food-y (e.g. jelly beans, gummy bears, Butterfinger) toppings, and so on. They even offer Mrs. Fields cookies and Cheesecake Factory cheesecake as toppings! I mean, seriously! Cheesecake as a topping sounds major. I’ll try that the next time I go (which is probably sometime this week).

Also, California Berry yogurt is non-fat and low-calorie, which is good news for, you know, people who like non-fat and low-calorie stuff. :D

For more information on California Berry, visit their website. California Berry in Iloilo is in SM City, Lower Ground Floor.

Yogu, Iloilo

Yogu is a (relatively) new frozen yogurt place in Iloilo. They’re actually here for just a dry run, but from what I’ve seen, they seem successful so I’m sure we’ll see a more permanent Yogu branch soon.

Other than frozen yogurt, Yogu also serves yogurt smoothies and coffee. Now on to the food!

So that’s what my sister ordered: frozen yogurt with peach, blueberry and mango toppings. I forgot to try it lol. (Large frozen yogurt = P95.00 | 3 toppings = P30.00)

This is what I ordered: frozen yogurt with mango, blueberry and almond toppings. The yogurt itself was really good, but the almonds were what made me love this so much. I love, love, love almonds! (Large frozen yogurt = P95.00 | 3 toppings = P30.00)

I love Yogu because the yogurt was really good but really cheap. It’s located in Smallville, across Coffee Break. If you haven’t been to Yogu, you really have no excuse not to!

P.S. I forgot to mention one crucial thing: one more reason I like Yogu is when I was there earlier they were playing Hall & Oates and Stephen Bishop. It was awesome.

Tutti Melon, San Francisco

Tutti Melon is just a typical frozen yogurt bar I found in San Francisco. I guess its unique point is the self-serving method, which, I think, is beneficial for them, because people tend to over indulge, and so get more than they’re supposed to. Like, for example, MOI!

I remember they had a couple of interesting topping selections that include Reese’s peanut butter and chocolate combo chips, Reeses’ peanut butter powder (notice the pattern? It’s not them, it’s just me. I like Reese’s), some fruits, mochis, and jellies.

I really didn’t find anything particularly special about this bar, so I’m just going to post pictures.

Enjoy!
