Jakey’s Amish Barbeque, Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Jakey’s was just a random restaurant my aunt and I stumbled into while we were hungry in Lancaster. I had the Steak BBQ and my aunt had the Boc Boi. Boc Boi. LOL.

This was the BBQ Steak. What I like about it the most is the bread. Oh my god. The bread was just a little crispy on the outside and soooo soft on the inside. It still had flour on the outer part, which I love. Because it gives the recently-baked feeling. Mmm. The sliced meat was so tender and the sauce was delicious! I think the liquid-y brown-y was just a normal barbecue sauce. But the combination of everything was nice.

The Boc Boi.

Let me explain the background of the name first. This will totally make you laugh! So the Amish people were derived from different countries like Germany and the Netherlands, so they have a little accent. Boc Boi is basically chicken pot pie, and the Amish people pronounce it “boc boi” instead of “pot pie” because of the accent. I laughed so hard when I heard this, I cried.

So the Boc Boi. HAHAHAH. Okay focus… Focus… It just sounds so funny! Anyway, the boc boi was FULL of carbohydrates. The soupey part was super-mashed-watery potatoes, and then it had even more potatoes that were cut out in cubes, and then the bread on the side. Wow. Other than those, it had carrots and chicken. I guess this kind of food is good for the Amish since they do all those hard labor. This has all the energy they need to work throughout the day. But for my aunt and I, this will just make us fat. LOL.

So I guess that’s it bic boi.
