Bouchon Bakery, New York

A friend of mine recommended me to try out the cakes at Bouchon Bakery a long time ago. Of course, I forgot to go there, but only until I found a picture of macaroons from Bouchon on Tumblr. And so it reminded me. And I went to the place. I tried the food. And it was… HEAVENLY! *cue heavenly music here*

I brought home three macaroons (just the typical flavors; chocolate, vanilla, and pistachio), one chocolate almond croissant, and a strawberry panna cotta.

I was in love with the chocolate almond croissant from the moment I bit it. It was love at first bite. Oh my god. The chocolate melted in my mouth, which was then followed by the crunchiness of the croissant. The pastry was extra crisp because it was coated with sugar and sprinkled with sliced almonds, which made it even better.

The strawberry panna cotta came out messy, so I apologize for the weird picture. Basically, it had layers of strawberry jam, vanilla panna cotta, a thin plain vanilla cake, strawberry jelly, and crumbs on the top. It was good. The jam was quite thick, which made the dessert very sweet, but then the creamy-ness of the panna cotta made it all better. I also like the fact that there was the cake layer, because it was unusual, but in a good way.

The macaroons. What I love the most with the macaroons from Bouchon Bakery is the filling. The filling was really buttery! And THICK! I know they seem quite thin from the picture, but that is only because the macaroons were so wide. The pistachio and vanilla tasted almost the same, the only difference is that the pistachio had a nutty scent. The chocolate was very chocolatey, especially the filling. I like it when food have strong flavors, that’s why I prefer gelatos over ice creams. So basically I like the chocolate macaroon the most.

People should go and try Bouchon Bakery. I went to the one at Time Warner building. Even though they are quite expensive (all these cost $20.63), it was definitely worth it!
