Dylan’s Candy Bar, New York
Let me first brag about what happened. So I was really excited about trying out the spaghetti ice (eis) at this restaurant on 55th and 5th. But after a long walk in the rain, I found out that the restaurant was CLOSED! I was so pissed off!! So then I thought hard and decided to go to Serendipity as a buffer, but when I got there, there were 15 people in front of me, and the waiter told the 1st person in line that he had to wait for 1 hour to get a seat. So I was like, no way I’m gonna wait that long for my turn! At this point I almost gave up.. But then I passed by Dylan’s Candy Bar. I almost didn’t go in because I knew that it sells commercial stuff, and it would be useless to review. But I went in anyway, and found out that they sell original Dylan’s Candy Bar sweets. I decided to try out the fudges.
So I bought this 6 for the price of 4 package. The fudges I picked are the ones in the picture:
AREN’T THEY CUTE?! Anyway, the one on the upper left is Rocky Road, then Blueberry Cheesecake, and then the Cinnamon Cake. The one on the bottom left is Peanut Butter, then the Cookies and Cream, and then the Coffee.
So let’s start!
Rocky Road was really chocolatey. I might be biased, but I loved this one because I LOVE Rocky Road ice cream. Peanut + chocolate is HEAVEN. And especially mixed with marshmallows! So, I do not recommend this to people who don’t like chocolates, but, well, just give it a try. Cos it’s rocky road!
My friend (Joey Bunny) said that the Blueberry Cheesecake tasted like saltwater taffy. Now I’ve never tried saltwater taffy, so I can’t comment on that. For me the cheese was really light. Too light actually - I can’t really taste the cheese :S The blueberry was kind of like candy, and too sweet. Overall, it was okay, but I wouldn’t buy it again.
The Cinnamon Coffee Cake was interesting. It had bits of cake, which kind of neutralizes the sweetness of the fudge. This was one of my favorites, cos it wasn’t too sweet, and the taste was great.
Peanut Butter…. *drools* Did I mention that I LOVE peanuts?! This one was really really peanut buttery. Not too sweet. Not too salty. And you can definitely taste the chocolate (yes, it has chocolate in it), but not too much.
The Cookies and Cream was sweet and soft and salty. When I had this, it was salty at first, and then it got sweet. So the salt is obviously from the cookies. And overall it was just okay. I mean, it’s cookies and cream. A typical common flavor. I would buy this again only because it’s cookies and cream.
Cappuccino tasted like… Well, cappuccino. It also smelled like cappuccino. It has two layers of coffee (inside) and chocolate (the coating). The coffee was great, but then the chocolate was too sweet, which kind of ruins the whole taste. And then it got bitter… From the coffee… This was actually interesting! LOL (I’m actually lol-ing). But I think I would prefer this without the chocolate.
So that’s it! I would like to thank JoeyBunny and my guardian, Tante Yanti, for helping me review the fudges. You guys were really helpful. We should do this more often!
